Shi Yanti has been a Shaolin Warrior Monk under Venerable Abbot Shi YongXin at the Shaolin Temple since around early 2000. He was born in Henan Province in 1984. Seeing his father practicing kung fu got him interested in the martial arts at an early age, and by the age of 13, he started to practice it seriously himself. He loved it so much that he decided to go to the Shaolin Temple. He was selected by the Shaolin Monks Corps in 2002 and immediately started training under Abbot Shi YongXin who remained his direct Master to this day.

The Abbot taught him a lot, and realizing his disciple's potential, he sent him to the University of Nanjing in 2008. There Master Yanti studied world religions and philosophy. He also passed examinations to become a bhikkhu, an ordained Buddhist monastic. He became a monk at elevated level at the Shaolin Temple in 2007.

But that was still not enough. YanTi Shi wanted to learn more. So while still finishing his studies in Nanjing, the Chinese government granted him access to Singapore University where he started in 2009. With the approval of the abbot, he went on to study Buddhism, English, Society and Science for two years.

When he came back to the Shaolin Temple after graduating, he continued to work with his Master Shi YongXin, learning Chan Buddhism and practicing traditional gong fu. He also held roles as head coach of the Shaolin Warrior Monks. He traveled widely to perform in front of government officials in Russia, Indonesia, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Malawi as well as in his own country. As a result of his studies and experience, the abbot gave him the task to take care of Foreign Visitors at the Shaolin Temple. This allowed him to practice his English more and more.

Recently, his highly valuable background and kung fu skills have enabled him to travel outside of China on his own to teach Shaolin Culture, health exercises and kung fu. He currently teaches mainly in Europe and already has found a lot of students and new friends there. But his task to spread Shaolin Chan philosophy and culture has taken him to other locations around the globe, and will continue to do so.

If your school or organization is interested in hosting a guest seminar or classes with Master Yanti in your area, please do not hesitate to contact him.
